Programming Step 4
Programming the CAV-M1000ES for remote codes.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING SET-TOP BOXES. The system's Multi-Room Distribution Unit is shipped from Sony pre-programmed
for the remote control codes of the supplied Sony A/V components. However, if your customer wants remote control capability for a
centrally-mounted Cable, Satellite or Other set-top box, you must program these additional remote control codes into the Multi-Room
Distribution Unit. Sony has provided "slots" that are waiting for the remote codes of the specific Cable, Satellite or Other set-top box.
Filling up those slots is a relatively quick process, using the following procedure and the Multi-Room Distribution Unit's SETUP mode.
CAUTION. When programming remote control commands for Cable/Sat, Aux 1 and Aux 2 sources, be careful not to overwrite Sony's
preprogrammed "Macros" for input source selection. Overwriting these macros will cause the Multi-Room Distribution Unit and A/V
Receiver to fail to switch properly when the customer selects these inputs.

1. On the Multi-Room Distribution Unit, press MODE repeatedly until "<<LEARN>>
then press ENTER. "WHICH MENU?" appears for a few seconds.
2. Press the cursor or cursor repeatedly to select "CODE LEARNING", then press ENTER. "CONNECT TO?" appears for a few
seconds.
3. Press the cursor or cursor repeatedly to select SOURCE 5, 6, 7, or 8, as appropriate.

4. Press ENTER. "INPUT IR CODE" appears for a few seconds, then display window changes to "CODE ID #00
NOTE: Refer to "PRESET and LEARN Mode Code List" below to see the code ID number that corresponds to each IR command.
For example, if "CODE ID #001" is displayed, press Num1 of the remote control of the source component to learn it into the
Multi-Room Distribution Unit.
