1.1 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

The safety precautions are categorized as
DANGER
: A dangerous situation may occur if improperly handled, leading to severe or
fatal injuries.
CAUTION
: A dangerous situation may occur if improperly handled, leading to minor
serious injuries.
Note that some items described as
situation. Nonetheless, important information outlined in this section must be observed at all
times.
Do not dispose the batteries in fire as they may explode.
Do not open or break the batteries. Released electrolyte is toxic and harmful to
the eyes and skin.
A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit current.
Observe the following minimum Safety Precautions when working on the batteries.
1)
Remove watches, rings or other metal objects.
2)
Use tools with insulated handles to prevent inadvertent shorts.
3)
Wear rubber gloves and boots.
4)
Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of the batteries.
5)
Disconnect charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting battery
terminals.
6)
Determine if the battery is inadvertently grounded. If so, remove source of
ground. Contact with any part of a grounded battery can result in electrical shock.
The likelihood of such shock will be reduced if grounds are removed during
installation and maintenance.
