9. Operation

• After you have correctly positioned the rain water tank pump (see section 8), insert the mains plug into a proper
mains socket with a protective earth contact. For outdoor operation, it must be an IP44 mains socket.
The mains plug may be plugged into the mains socket only when it is dry. Otherwise there is a risk of a fatal
electric shock!
• If the float switch is correctly positioned, the rain water tank pump turns on and begins to suck in water and pump
it through the outlet opening (if necessary, open the shut-off valve so that the lever is parallel to the pipe/hose).
If water is not pumped, there is still air in the rain water tank pump and in the hose. You can accelerate the suction
process if you move the rain water tank pump back and forth a bit.
• The rain water tank pump turns off automatically when the float switch drops down.
The rain water tank pump can also be operated manually by fixing the float switch accordingly or by placing
it in a higher position.
However, the rain water tank pump must never be operated unsupervised, because it does not turn off if
there is no water in it and can thus sustain damage.

10. Removing from service

If you need to disconnect the hose from the rain water tank pump (e.g. for cleaning, maintenance or winter storage),
proceed as follows:
• Disconnect the rain water tank pump from the mains voltage by pulling the mains plug out of the mains socket.
• Pull the rain water tank pump out of the water using the U-shaped connector, carrying handle or the fastening rope
attached.
The rain water tank pump must never be pulled out by the power cord or float switch! Otherwise the power
cord may get damaged, risk of an electric shock!
• Disconnect the hose (connected via the U-shaped connector or directly) from the rain water tank pump.
• Allow residual water to run out of the rain water tank pump by holding it tilted or by turning it upside down.
• Clean the filter on the underside of the rain water tank pump, as described in section 11.
• Allow the the rain water tank pump and power cord to dry completely. Then wind up the power cord by e.g. wrapping
it around the rain water tank pump from top to bottom (if necessary, fold up the stand).
• The rain water tank pump must be stored in a frost-proof and dry room during winter.
Also do not forget to empty the hoses laid outdoor to avoid frost damages; open water taps if available. The
rain water tank must also be emptied, as water expands when it freezes, thus causing the rain water tank
to destruct.
• Only carry or transport the rain water tank pump by the carrying handle. Never hold it by the power cord or float
switch.
• A small amount of water may still remain in the rain water tank pump after operation or emptying. Therefore, when
storing or transporting the pump in a vehicle, use an appropriate mat.
