8.2 R e-­‐Assembling t he S prinkler
Prior t o r e-­‐assembling t he s prinkler, f lush t he s ub-­‐lateral l ine t horoughly. S ecuring t he
upper a nd l ower p ortions o f t he s prinkler b ody w ith t he f asteners a nd u sing t he s pecial
flushing t ool p /n R ZG2 1 7623 ( shown a s 3 1 i n t he F igure 8 -­‐1 b elow), c an a ccomplish t his
task.
1) Locate t he f oot v alve a nd t hread i nto t he v alve s leeve t ool p /n R ZK2 1 7623. I nsert i nto
the l ower s prinkler b ody w ith t he c hamfered s urface p ointing d ownward. G rease t he
rubber e dges t o e ase o f i nsertion.
2) Align t he v alve i nsert w ith m anual c ontrol d evice o r v entilating s crew, a s t he f oot v alve
is s et i nto p lace. T his m ay r equire s ome s light d ownward b lows w ith t he s leeve t ool t o
seat i nto p lace.
3) Replace t he r etaining s nap r ing b y p lacing i nto t he g roove w ith t he s nap r ing t ool p /n
RTC4 1 7839. I f t he s nap r ing w ill n ot s eat p roperly, c onfirm t he f oot v alve i s s eated
properly. T his m ay r equire t he f oot v alve t o b e r emoved a nd r e-­‐seated.
4) Align t he i mpact d rive s ubassembly w ith i ts g uide p ins i n a ny s mall g roove. P ress i nto
place a nd s ecure w ith t he s tainless s teel f asteners. T ighten i n a s tar p attern t o s et t o
secure p roperly.
