as:
Metal industry
• Construction
Aircraft
• Power plants
Utilities

or damaged and replaced by new parts from the 3M 1442 Hygiene
Pack.
Standard
The product meets all the requirements of the European Standard
EN352-3. The main performance tests in this standard are:
Attenuation (see below)
Adjustability: The ability of the ear muffs to fit a range of head
sizes.
Headband Force
Cushion Pressure
Resistance to damage
Ignitability
For more information on the above contact 3M.
Minimum Attenuation
16 test subjects are selected to wear the ear muffs and their
ability to hear sound at different intensities is tested over a range
of frequencies. A minimum attenuation of this sound is required
by the standard. Results from the 3M 1450 and Tuff Master II are
shown below:

Maintenance
At the end of each shift the cushions of the ear muffs should be
wiped with the 3M 105 face seal cleaner so they may remain
clean and hygienic.
Ear muffs and in particular cushions, may deteriorate with use and
should be examined at frequent intervals for signs of damage. If
this is discovered the cushion should be removed from the earcup
and replaced. Inspect the earcup for damage and cracking. If this
is found, the earcup should be replaced. Finally check the arm to
ensure it is flexible and still maintains sufficient force to hold the
earcups firmly to the side of the head.
If the ear muff cannot be cleaned or a damaged component cannot
be replaced, dispose of the ear muffs and obtain a new pair.
