  • Page 23 Remote Central Management Software Remote Management Description The Remote Management Software remotely manages WBTs connected to a TCP/IP network. To implement security and manage the registry and software updates of the WBTs, there is a requirement for agents to be running on the client side (i.e. on WBTs). The product consists of a suite of agents for the devices and remote management software, Remote Director and Address Book Service, to manage these devices.
  • Page 24 The Address Book Service maintains the following information for device lists that are created by the Remote Director: • Profile files used by devices to dynamically configure themselves at boot time • Firmware image files used to update devices via a scheduling mechanism invoked by the Remote Director.
  • Page 25 Add a New Device List The default device list is "UNASSIGNED". New devices, which are automatically detected at device bootup, will be placed in the "UNASSIGNED" list. For management purposes, it is usually necessary to allocate devices to several different device lists. To create a new list, select File menu and click the New Device List option.
  • Page 26 As soon as the New Device Dialog box pops up, as shown in the figure above, the user is required to enter the IP Address of the device, and the device list password. The password ensures that only authorized users can manipulate the device. Next click on Get Info button to show the device information, and then click the OK button to add the device to the device list.

The user has the options of Adding, Removing, or Modifying an Address Book Server or connecting to an Address Book Server. When adding, the user is required to enter the IP Address and the password of the Address Book Server. The user can also request Remote Director to automatically find all the Address Book Servers on the network by clicking on Auto-Discover.
