3.0 Product Disassembly Process
3.1 List the basic steps that should typically be followed to remove components and materials requiring selective treatment:
1.
Remove black flat-head screws securing cover, 3 each side, 6 at top rear, - 12 screws total.
2.
Remove cover by lifting rear of cover and pulling towards back of unit to disengage lip. Cover is painted zinc-plated
steel.
3.
Remove 12 screws holding metal keying mechanisms with springs. Each of the 3 mechanisms is secured by 4
screws. All parts of these mechanisms are steel.
4.
Remove 8 screws holding rear connector housings in place. Each of the 4 connector housings is held in place with 2
screws.
5. Remove the 4 connection subassemblies by first pulling the edge-connector end out of its connector then lifting up and
to the rear of the unit to free each subassembly.
6. For each of the connection subassemblies remove the one screw holding the connector housing to the PCB. Connector
housings are aluminum. The 2 connectors on each of the 4 connection PCBs can be pried out if needed since these
are press-fit connectors.
7. Remove the 8 screws that secure the main PCA. Lift PCA at rear and move slightly backwards to disengage LED light
pipe. Light pipe is easily removed by hand.
8.
The remaining chassis base is one piece and consists of painted zinc-plated steel.
