Cleaning
∙Clean the exterior of the unit with
a soft, moist cloth. If heavily soiled,
a mild detergent can be used.
∙Crumbs that have fallen down col-
lect in the crumb tray.
∙Press the "Push" button.
∙Remove the crumb tray and empty
the crumbs.
∙Replace the crumb tray.

Graef customer service depart-
ment.

Safety instructions

This unit complies with the statu-
tory safety regulations. Improper
use can, however, lead to personal
injury and property damage.
To handle the unit safely, follow the
instructions below:
∙Check the unit for external, visible
damage to the housing, the con-
nector cable and the plug before
using it. Do not put a damaged
unit into operation.
∙To prevent hazards, if the ma-
chine's connection cable is dam-
aged, solely the manufacturer or
its customer service department or
a similarly qualified person is per-
mitted to replace it.
∙Repairs are only allowed to be
performed by a specialist or by
the Graef customer service depart-
ment. Improper repairs can lead
to extreme hazards for the user.
Furthermore, the right to warranty
claim expires.
∙Defective components must be
replaced solely with genuine spare
parts. Fulfilment of the safety reg-
ulations is only guaranteed if these
parts are used.
∙This appliance can be used by chil-
dren aged from 8 years and above
and persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge
if they have been given supervi-
sion or instruction concerning use
of the appliance in a safe way and
understand the hazards involved.
Cleaning and user maintenance
shall not be made by children un-
less they are supervised.
∙Children shall not play with the
appliance.
∙Keep the appliance and its cord
out of the reach of children less
than 8 years.
∙The unit is not intended to be used
with an external timer or a sepa-
rate telecontrol system.
∙This unit is intended to be used in
household and similar applications
such as: staff kitchen areas in shops,
offices and other working environ-
ments; farm houses; by clients in
hotels, motels and other residental
type environments; bed and break-
fast type environments.
∙If the supply cord is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manufac-
turer, its service or similarly quali-
fied persons in order to avoid a
hazard.
∙Do not use the unit if the connec-
tion cable or plug is damaged.
∙To prevent hazards, before con-
tinuing to use the unit have a new
connection cable installed solely
by the manufacturer or its custom-
er service department or a similarly
qualified person
∙Never open the unit housing un-
der any circumstances. If live con-
nections are touched and the
electrical or mechanical structure
changes, there is a danger of elec-
tric shock.
∙Never touch any parts that are
conducting electricity. They can
cause an electric shock or even
lead to death.
∙Always pull the power supply line
from the electric socket with the
connection plug, not on the con-
nection cable.
∙Make sure the mains cable does

not get caught anywhere, which
could lead to the unit falling down.
∙Do not use the packing material as
a toy. Danger of suffocation.
∙Never operate the unit without the
crumb tray.
∙Use the unit only when it is stand-
ing upright; never put the unit into
operation if is lying on its side or
upside down.
∙If the toasted goods get jammed,
pull the power plug, let the unit
cool off and carefully remove the
toasted goods. Make sure you do
not touch the heating elements.
∙The unit emits a great amount of
heat towards the top.
∙The bread may brun, therefore do
not use the toaster near or below
combustible material.
∙Periodically empty the crumb tray.
∙Before cleaning, pull the power
cord from the electric socket.
∙Let the unit cool off before clean-
ing.
∙Do not use any aggressive or abra-
sive cleaning agents and do not
use any solvents.
∙Do not scratch off stubborn soiling
with hard objects.
∙Make sure that no liquid gets into
the interior of the unit.
