Chapter 4 Demo Waveforms
Demo 1: Data-to-Data
If you were actually making a measurement and were unsure of the
appropriate threshold level setting for Input 1 or Input 2, you could click
"Find 50% Level" and the hardware would set the level based on the
actual input. This level would appear in the "Threshold Level" box and the
signal minimum and maximum values would be reported near the bottom
of the "Threshold Level" panel.
Also, the trigger source is set to come from the front panel indicating that
a trigger signal was provided at the front panel of the HP E1740A. The
other trigger source choices allow the trigger to be received on the VXIbus.
3
Double-click on the box in the upper left corner of the Input window to
close this window.
4
Click on the Span & Resolution... button.
This window configures the fast histogram hardware to cover the range of
intervals being measured. Since this drive has a decode window or "T"
spacing of 15.6 ns and uses RLL (1,7) coding, intervals will cover the range
from 2T to 8T (31.2 ns nominal to 124.8 ns nominal). A span of 200 ns is
chosen to cover this measurement range for the histogram. The resulting
histogram bin width, or resolution, is 100 ps.
5
Click on the Cancel button on the Span & Resolution window.
