SFP Frame Loss Issue

• Occasionally, when a fibre cable is plugged into an SFP transceiver the SFP port is
unable to receive frames. This condition can be avoided by ensuring that no frame
transmissions or receptions occur on this port during link initialization.
The effect of this condition can be observed by checking the port statistics and seeing
that transmit frame counts are incrementing on this port, but receive frame counts do
not increment. Frame transmission and reception can be tested by sending ping
frames through the switch via this port and observing ping responses
and port statistics. To re-enable frame reception, reset the SFP port by unplugging
and plugging the fibre cable.
