Check your present systems
Each computer you connect to a PC Port Phoneline USB Adapter must have:
e Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, or Windows 2000
e USB port
e CD-ROM drive

To install the PC Port Phoneline USB Adapter, complete the
following three steps:
Note: You may have more than one phoneline in your home. Your networked PCs and
devices must be connected to the same phoneline in order to be on the same network.
Step 1. Install the PC Port USB Adapter
Insert the PC Port Phoneline USB Adapter into the USB port.

Some PCs have more than one USB port. The PC Port Phoneline
USB Adapter can be inserted into any USB port.

Step 2. Connect the telephone cables
1. Connect one end of the provided telephone cable to
the Adapter port labeled "TO WALL," and the other end
of the telephone cable to an available wall jack, as
shown in the diagram.
2. PC Port has an additional adapter port labeled
"TO PHONE" for an optional telephone connection.

Step 3. Install the Network Driver
Note: If your PC is running Windows 98* , you may need your Windows 98 CD to complete this install. Because not all
Windows versions respond to new hardware in the same way, screens may appear in a different order and may have a
different appearance than the screens shown in these instructions.
* Windows 2000 installation steps are similar to the steps below
To install the network driver:

1. Power on the computer.
Windows recognizes the PC Port and
automatically launches the Add New
Hardware Wizard. Click Next to continue.
2. Select "Search for the best driver for your device."
Click Next to continue.
3. Insert the PC Port CD.
Step 4. Share an Internet connection and share files and printers
Select the "CD-ROM drive" checkbox.
The 2Wire HomePortal automatically configures Internet connection sharing as well as file and printer sharing. If you do

not have a 2Wire HomePortal, you can still use the 2Wire PC Port to share an Internet connection and to share files and
printers among your networked computers.

4. Windows is now ready to load the network driver.
Click Next to continue.
Note: If asked to insert your Windows CD, please do so and follow
onscreen instructions. If you don't have your Windows CD handy, try
the following options for locating the driver:
C:\WINDOWS\options\cabs
C:\Windows
C:\Windows\system
D:\Win98
5. Click Finish.
Windows may take several minutes to
complete the driver installation.
6. Click Yes to restart the computer.
If the System Settings Change window does not
appear, restart your PC: From the Start menu, select
Shut Down, select Restart, and click OK.
