Structure of folders and files on the storage media
• The folder and file structure for storage media is as follows:
• The file naming follows DCF (Design rule for Camera File System).
Video file (H.264)
• The HD-quality videos have HDV_####.MP4
format.
• The SD-quality videos have SDV_####.MP4
format.
• The HD and SD quality videos will be named
as HDE_####.MP4 and SDE_####.MP4
respectively when you edit videos using the
PC software.
• The file number automatically increases when
a new video file is created.
• Up to 999 files are created in one folder, and
new folder is created when the files exceed
more than '999.'
Photo file
• As in video files, the file number automatically
increases when a new photo file is created.
• A new folder stores files from CAM_0001.JPG.
• The folder name increases in the order of
100PHOTO  101PHOTO, etc.
• Up to 999 files are created in one folder, and
new folder is created when the files exceed
more than '999.'
File format
Video files
• Video files are compressed in H.264 format. The file extension is ".MP4."
• Refer to page 62 for the video resolution.
Photo files
• Photo images are compressed in JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) format.
The file extension is ".JPG."
• Refer to page 62 for the photo resolution.
• When the 999th file is created in the 999th folder (i.e. HDV_999.MP4 is created in the 999
VIDEO folder), a new folder cannot be created anymore. Set "File No." to "Reset" at this
time.
• This camcorder may not recognize modified files. Don't arbitrarily change or remove the

folder or file name. It may not be playable.
