    Operation Turning on the Power and Selecting a Weight The first time you plug the power cord into an outlet, or after there has been an interruption in power, the display shows “ you can select the weight system for the display. You can choose between pounds (LBS) or kilograms (KG).

    For simple one-stage cooking, you only need to set a cooking time. The power level is automatically set to High. If you want to set the power to any other level, you must set it using the Power Level button.

    The display returns to the time of day. Using the Kitchen Timer Press the Kitchen Timer button. Use the Number buttons to set the length of time you want the timer to run. Press Start to begin Kitchen Timer. The display counts down and beeps when the time has elapsed.

    Not Recommended • Glass jars and bottles — Regular glass is too thin to be used in a microwave, and can shatter. • Paper bags — These are a fire hazard, except for popcorn bags that are designed for microwave use.

    Microwave energy is attracted to water molecules. Food that is uneven in moisture content should be covered or allowed to stand so that the heat disperses evenly. Add a small amount of water to dry food to help it cook.

    • Cover poultry with wax paper to prevent spattering. • Use aluminum foil to shield bone tips, thin meat areas, or areas that start to overcook. • Check the temperature in several places before letting the poultry stand the recommended time.
