Attaching and Replacing the Sanding Arm

1. First, unplug from power mains. Slacken the tension of the sanding belt by
folding down the tensioning lever and remove the sanding belt as described in
the chapter "Installing/Replacing the Sanding Belt" on page 8.
2. Swing the tensioning lever back to extend the sanding arm all the way.
Loosen the regulating turn knob until the sanding arm is free. Slide it out of
the unit and insert the other sanding arm.
3. Tighten the sanding arm with the regulating turn knob until the arm is straight
in the unit. Make sure the spring is placed correctly between the sanding arm
and the sanding arm holder.
4. Fold the tensioning lever forward and insert the suitable sanding belt. Tension
the sanding belt with the tensioning lever and switch on the power file. Finally
adjust the sanding belt with the regulating turn knob.

Hints on the safe use of the Power File

If possible, place the work pieces in a vice or secure them to a workbench or
other solid base.
When using the file on wood, it should be used in the direction of the fibres
whenever possible to avoid ripping fibres from the wood.
If very wide work pieces are machined, it is advisable to align the machine in
such a way that it covers as much of the surface as possible at the same time
to achieve a smooth and level surface.
Before each use, make sure the sanding belt is free from damage and can
move freely. The edges of the belt should not be frayed and the seam must
be in good condition.
The unit should be clean and there should be no parts missing.
If you hear unusual sounds during operation or abnormal vibration occurs,
stop operating the unit and check the correct fit of the sanding belt and the
sanding arm. If the fault cannot be remedied, have the power file checked by
a professional.
