Drive Chain Free Movement
Adjustment
Warning
Operation of the motorcycle with
insecure adjuster lock nuts or a
loose wheel spindle may result in
impaired stability and handling of the
motorcycle.
This impaired stability and handling
may lead to loss of control or an
accident.

If the drive chain free movement
measurement is incorrect, adjustments
must be made as follows:
Loosen the rear wheel spindle nut.
Loosen the adjuster lock nut on
both the left and right hand side
drive chain adjusters.

Turn both the left and right hand
adjuster
decrease drive chain free movement
and anticlockwise (B) to increase
drive chain free movement.
Make sure that both the left and
right hand adjuster nuts are set to
the same measurement.
When the correct amount of drive
chain free movement has been set
(43 mm), tighten the rear wheel
spindle nut to 110 Nm.
Repeat the drive chain adjustment
check. Readjust if necessary.
Tighten both left and right hand
side adjuster nuts to 3 Nm.
Hold the adjuster nuts in place, and
tighten the adjuster lock nuts to
15 Nm.

Repeat the drive chain adjustment
check. Readjust if necessary.

Check the rear brake effectiveness.
Rectify if necessary.

motorcycle with defective brakes; you

must have your authorised Triumph
dealer take remedial action before you
attempt to ride the motorcycle again.
Failure to take remedial action may
reduce
to loss of motorcycle control or an
accident.
