4.8 Soundproofing
Noise measurements must be carried out if modifi-
cations are made to noise-relevant parts, such as the
following:
• Engine
• Exhaust system
• Intake air system
• Tires, etc.
Noise measurements must be carried out and all
national and state regulations and guidelines must be
complied with.
Soundproofing parts must not be removed or modified.
This ensures that the vehicle continues to comply with
the FMVSS/CMVSS regulations on noise control.

Note
The level of interior noise must not be adversely
affected.

Note
The noise level of the vehicle as specified by the
FMVSS/CMVSS regulations
must remain compliant after modifications are made
to the vehicle.
