Chapter 5 Functions and Settings
• When a Tag List Is Not Registered
This section describes the operations in "detection mode" when a tag list is not registered.
When a tag list is not registered, the "verification result" (UID information of the detected RFID tag) is stored in shared memory after RFID tag
detection, and then a transition is made to "waiting for result command from host device". Next, a transition is made to "detection result".
Waiting for Result Command from Host Device
This section describes the "waiting for result command from host device" status.
"Waiting for result command from host device" is the status for when the KW2D Series Smart RFID Reader is waiting for the OK
command or failure command from the host device. The waiting time is 3 sec maximum. The LEDs (white) flash rapidly during the "waiting
for result command from host device status".
Detection Result
This section describes the "detection result" status when a tag list is not registered.
"Detection result" is the status that provides notification of the RFID tag reading result with the LED indicators and buzzer.
The KW2D Series Smart RFID Reader exhibits the operation for the OK command, failure command, or no command according to the
command from the host device. The command is no command if there is no OK command or failure command from the host device after
3 sec or longer elapses from RFID detection. The host device gives the OK command or failure command by turning the coil relays on
and off. For details, see "Setup from the Host Device Using Coil Relays" on page 5-14.

• The KW2D Series Smart RFID Reader holds the verification result for 1.5 sec after "detection mode". If a tag is not detected
during this time, the verification result is set to the initial value and a transition is made to "running".
• When "detection mode" is normal or OK command, a transition is made to "lock mode" if an RFID tag is held up to the reader
for longer than 1.5 sec after "detection mode".
• The KW2D Series Smart RFID Reader transitions from "detection mode" to "lock mode" in the following cases.
• When the [Keep ON state for a certain time after reading] check box is selected on the [RFID Reader Settings] tab and the
"detection mode result" is normal or OK command.
• When the [Keep ON state for a certain time after reading] check box is cleared on the [RFID Reader Settings] tab, the
"detection result" is normal or OK command, and the RFID tag continues being held up to the RFID reader for longer than
1.5 sec after the "detection result".
In cases other than those described above, the RFID reader transitions from "detection mode" to "operation mode". When the
RFID reader transitions to operation mode, the verification result is set to the initial value. For details on "lock mode", see "Lock
Mode" on page 5-8.
• For the verification result, see "Verification Result References" on page 5-7.
