7. Make sure the tire is stored
securely. Push, pull, and then
try to turn the tire. If the tire
moves, use the wheel wrench
to tighten the cable or chain.
Repeat this tightness check
procedure when checking the
spare tire pressure according
to the scheduled maintenance
information or any time the
spare tire is handled due to
service of other components.
8. Reinstall the spare tire lock,
if the vehicle has one.
To store the jack and tools, reverse
the steps for removing them.

Jump Starting

To switch the ignition on in a vehicle
with discharged battery, connect the
jump leads in the battery from other
vehicle. This should be done with
extreme caution and following the
next instructions.
Warning
Be extremely careful when
starting with jump leads. Any
deviation from the following
instructions can lead to injuries or
damage caused by battery
explosion or damage to the
electrical systems of both
vehicles.
Warning
Avoid contact with eyes, skin,
fabrics, and painted surfaces. The
fluid contains sulphuric acid which
can cause injuries and damage in
the event of direct contact.
Never expose the battery to
open flames or sparks.
A discharged battery can freeze
at a temperature of 0°C. Defrost
the frozen battery before
connecting jump cables.
Wear eye protection and
protective clothing when
handling a battery.
Use a booster battery with the
same voltage (11,0 to
15,5 Volts). Its capacity (Ah)
must not be much less than that
of the discharged battery.
Use jump cables with insulated
terminals and a cross section of
at least 16 mm² (25 mm² for
diesel engines).
Do not disconnect the
discharged battery from the
vehicle.
Switch off all unnecessary
electrical consumers.
Do not lean over the battery
during jump starting.
