Troubleshooting
Before sending the appliance to Royal Appliance Customer Service, use the following table to check
if you can solve the problem yourself.
WARNING:
Never use a defective appliance! Always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the mains
before starting troubleshooting ZChapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting the power cable".

Possible cause
Solution
Insert the plug into a mains socket and switch
on the appliance, ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuuming".
Test the cylinder vacuum cleaner on another
socket that you are sure is carrying current.
Have the cord replaced by the Royal Appliance
Customer Service, address ZPage 116,
"International Service".
Switch the appliance off and pull the plug out of
the socket. Eliminate the cause of overheating
(e.g. blocked suction channels, filters, etc.).
Wait for about 45 minutes. After the appliance
has cooled off, you may switch it on again.
Close the bypass vent (Fig. 1/2).
Change the dust filter bag ZChapter 4.1,
"Changing the dust filter bag".
Remove the obstacle. If necessary, use a long
wooden stick (e.g. a broomstick) to do this.
Set the power to the setting suggested for the
flooring, ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuuming", step 5.
Set the "carpet/hard floor" selector (Fig. 1/20)
to the correct position for the type of floor,
ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuuming", step 6.
Fit the correct nozzle, ZChapter 2.3, "Using
other nozzles (accessories)".
Change/clean the respective filter, ZChapter
4.3, "Cleaning / changing the motor protection
filter" or ZChapter 4.4, "Cleaning / changing
the exhaust filter".
Remove the objects. If necessary, use a long
wooden stick (e.g. a broomstick) to do this.
