N ew s Bullet in Funct ion
w it h PTY N ew s Tim eout Set t ing
You can arrange to have new s bulletins interrupt your current
listening source, including other radio stations. When the
New s Bulletin function is on, the PTY New s Timeout setting
allow s you to set the interval during w hich further new s inter-
ruption cannot take place. You can adjust the PTY new s inter-
ruption period from 10 to 90 minutes for each journey.
Turning New s Bulletin Function On/ Off:

Hold dow n the M ENU button for one second or more.
"M ENU" is displayed and the menu mode is turned on.

Press the ¢ button repeatedly until the New s Bulletin func-
tion appears in the display.
Press the 4 button to search in the other direction.
The function setting is indicated by "NEWS 00M " or "NEWS
OFF" in the display, indicating that the function is on or off,
respectively.
N OTE
Depending on the interval chosen, the "00M " in the display w ill
change w hen the function is turned on.

Changing the Function Setting
Press either the FM or AM button.
Each time you press the FM or AM button until the desired
setting is displayed.
Press the FM button to increase the interval, and the AM but -
ton to decrease it.

When you select the new s interruption timeout interval, the
New s function turns on and the NEWS indicator lights up.
When a new s bulletin is received, the NEWS indicator w ill blink
and reception w ill begin at the preset volume.
N OTE
If you choose the "20M " setting, further new s bulletins w ill not be
received for 20 minutes once the first new s bulletin is received.
Setting the interval at the "00M " factory default indicates no
New s Timeout w ill be made, meaning that additional new s bul-
letins w ill continue to be searched for.

Press the M ENU button to end the menu mode.
N OTE
• This function is only available if the desired station sends PTY-
code for new s bulletin or belongs to EON-Netw ork sending
PTY-code for new s bulletin.
• If you turn on the new s bulletin function in the M W/LW band,
the band is sw itched automatically to the FM band.
How ever, the M W/LW band is not returned to w hen you turn
off the function.
A ut o TP Seek Funct ion
When the TI function is on and poor reception conditions are
experienced w hen listening to a traffic information station,
another traffic information station w ith better reception w ill
be searched for automatically. This function is on, w hen unit
is first pow ered on.
Turning Auto TP Seek Function On/ Off:

"M ENU" is displayed and the menu mode is turned on.

Press the ¢ button repeatedly until the Auto TP Seek func-
tion appears in the display.
Press the 4 button to search in the other direction.

The function setting is indicated by "ATPS ON" or "ATPS OFF"
(M = minutes)
in the display, indicating that the function is on or off, respec-
tively.

Sw itching settings
Press either the AM button or FM button.
The display and setting w ill change.
If the traffic information station you are tuned to experiences
poor reception, this function automatically seeks another TP
station after about 30 seconds.

Press the M ENU button to end the menu mode.
