DESCRIPTION
The heat pump condensing unit is the outdoor part of a versatile
system of heating and air conditioning. It is designed to be cus-
tom-matched with one of UPG's complete line of evaporator
sections, with each serving a specific function. Matching Air
Handlers are available for upflow, downflow, or horizontal appli-
cations to provide a complete system. Electric Heaters are
available, if required. Add-on coils are available for use with
upflow, downflow, or horizontal furnaces and air handlers. Many
matches meet Federal Tax Rebate program.

Questions and answers
I'm writing to inquire about the YCJF30S41S1A central air conditioner unit installed in my home. The system has been leaking refrigerant, and I've had it topped up by technicians over the past three years. According to the nameplate, the factory charge is 3 lb 7 oz. In the past two years, the technician added 2.5 lb each year. However, this year, a different technician did that without my presence and said that added 5.5 lb of refrigerant. I'm concerned about the significant difference in the amount of refrigerant added this year compared to previous years. Could you please advise if it's possible for this system to accept such a large amount of refrigerant? I'd appreciate any guidance on the correct refrigerant charge for this unit. Thank you for your assistance.
The correct refrigerant charge for the York YHJF30S41S1 (note: YCJF30S41S1A appears to be a typo or variant of YHJF30S41S1) includes:
- Base charge (as shipped)
- Plus charge adder for the matched evaporator coil
- Plus charge adder for the refrigerant line set, based on its length
The unit charge is correct for 15 feet of refrigerant tubing. For other lengths, adjust by adding or subtracting 0.62 oz of refrigerant per foot.
To find the total system charge:
Total System Charge = Base Charge + Coil Adder + (Line Set Length Difference × 0.62 oz/ft)
The final total must be permanently marked on the unit nameplate.

@Mr. Anderson Dear Mr. Anderson, Thank you for your response. I apologize for the delay and any misunderstandings. Please correct me if I am wrong: Total charge = 3 lb 7 oz (factory load) + (15 ft x 0.62 oz/ft) + coil load. The charge of 5.5 lb seems to you as a correct amount. I appreciate your help and would be happy to provide feedback if you'd like to share a link. Thank you again for your time.
