The e-breathe Smartblower system is a battery-powered blower unit which is along with respiratory filters, a brea-
thing hose and a head piece, part of a blower-assisted breathing system in accordance with EN 12941: 2009 or EN
12942: 2009.
The blower is equipped with filters. The e-breathe Smartblower is a respirator system designed to supply filtered air
for use in dangerous environments. Air is drawn through the filters by an electronically-controlled fan and led through
the breathing hose into the facepiece. The overpressure prevents the ingress of pollutants from the environment into
the head piece.
The usage of a respirator has to be part of respiratory protection program. You will find more information about the
issue in EN 529:2005.
The instruction manuals enclosed to the mentioned standards refer to important aspects of the respiratory protection
program; however, they do not apply as replacement for national and local regulations (e.g. BGR 190-rules for the use
of respiratory protection devices / BGI 504-26 – selection criteria for special occupational-medical provision according
to the guideline G26 "respirators" of the trade association)
If you are unsure about the selection and handling of the equipment, contact your supervisor or the point of sale. You
can also contact the e-breathe Safety technical support or selected service centers at any time.

1.1 Warnings

The equipment must not/should not be used:
EN 12941 Blower with Hoods, Head Pieces and Suits
when the blower is switched off or goes off during operation. If the blower turns off by accident, the device
ceases to function as a respirator, and carbon dioxide levels may instantly rise. This is considered an exceptio-
nal situation. Exit the hazardous area immediately.
EN 12942 Blower with Full Face Mask and Half Face Mask
when the blower is switched off or goes off during operation. If the blower turns off by accident or the power
supply is interrupted, the respirator should not be taken off because it continues to function as a underpres-
sure device. Immediately leave the hazardous area and report the defect.
in case of heavy breathing, dizziness, nausea or other types of discomfort.
if the smell or taste of contaminants is noticeable.
The filtering device must not be used if the environment and contamination is unknown. In case of doubt,
isolating respirators (air supply) which function independently of the atmosphere must be used.
in environments that are directly dangerous to life and health (IDLH).
The filtering device must not be used in confined spaces (e.g. cisterns, tunnels) because of the risk of oxygen
deficiency or presence of heavy oxygen-displacing gases (e.g. carbon dioxide).
The filtering device may be used only if the oxygen content of the air is 18–23 vol.%.
in atmospheres with oxygen or oxygen-enriched air.
The blower and accessories must not be used in areas where there is a risk of explosion.
If you are unsure about the selection and handling of the equipment, please contact your supervisor or the
point of sale.
