2 Safety Notes

The receiver corresponds to all relevant directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
G
Never operate the receiver in places where it is
subjected to very high or very low temperatures
(admissible ambient temperature range -10 °C to
+55 °C).
G
Never use aggressive cleansing agents or chemi-
cals for cleaning the housing.
G
No guarantee claims for the receiver and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material dam-
age will be accepted if it is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly installed
or operated or not repaired in an expert way.
If the receiver is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling plant
for a disposal which is not harmful to the
environment.
3 Applications
In combination with the 5.8 GHz transmitter AV-5820TX
from MONACOR, the receiver AV-5810R serves for
wireless audio and video transmission. For setting up
a wireless video surveillance system, merely a video

camera and a monitor are additionally required. Due
to its weatherproof hous ing (IP 54), the receiver is
specially suited for outdoor mounting.
The transmission range largely depends on the
local conditions. The maximum range is reached
when there are no obstacles between the transmitter
and the receiver. However, in buildings the range is
reduc ed by walls and ceilings depending on their con-
dition.

4 Operation

4.1 Placing the transmitter and the receiver
Practical experience has shown that an optimum
reception is achieved when placing the units at a
height of minimum 1.5 m to 2 m above the ground.
Prior to final mounting, a trial run is recommended as
the transmission quality can be substantially changed
by displacing the units by a few centimetres only.
4.2 Mounting
1) Remove the inner part (2) from the housing first.
For this purpose, press the two latches (1) outward
so that the inner part can be pulled out.
2) Use the bracket (3) to attach the inner part to a
wall or to a pole so that the cable inlets (4) point
downward and no rain will penetrate the unit.
In case of pole mounting, use the supplied
clamp with the wing nuts and the screws according
to fig. 1. After setting the unit into operation, adjust
the receiver to optimum reception by turning it at
the pole.
3) After making the connections (chapter 4.3) and the
adjustments (chapters 4.4 and 4.5), place the
housing.
4.3 Connecting units
Switch off any units prior to connecting them. Always
connect the power supply for the receiver last. When
changing existing connections, first disconnect the
power supply for the receiver and switch off any con-
nected unit.
Fold out the reception antenna (7) to the left side.
It is secured by a hook-and-loop fastener at the
shielding plate of the tuner. All connections are made
via the terminal strip (8). Connection wires with a
cross section of 0.14 – 1.5 mm
