Starting Up

Inserting a battery

Turn the power off before you replace the bat-
tery.
Note:
· If you use an alkaline battery, press and hold down
the MENU/STOP button for at least two seconds to
access the COMMON menu, then select "ALKA-
LINE" for the BATTERY SETTING.
Battery indicator
Check the battery indicator on the LCD screen to
determine the remaining battery power.

Install one eneloop (supplied) or
AAA/LR03/HP16 alkaline battery.
: Good condition
: Weak battery
: Exhausted battery: Recharge the "eneloop"
(page 35) or replace the battery with a new
alkaline battery. If you keep using the
recorder without recharging the "eneloop"
or replacing the battery, the recorder will
display the message "LOW BATTERY PLEASE
CHARGE A BATTERY" or "LOW BATTERY."
The LCD screen will then go dark.
Hint:
For more information on recharging the "eneloop"
battery, refer to page 35 .
When you turn on the power to the recorder for the
first time after purchase, set the date and time. To do
so, press and hold down the MENU/STOP button for at
least two seconds to access the COMMON menu, then
use the DATE & TIME settings.
Note:
· Dispose of all used batteries safely in accordance
with all applicable laws.
