Introduction

This document explains how to attach a US Robotics modem to the Administration Serial
Port of a PARTNER ACS R7 processor. This procedure can be used for other modem
brands, however you must consult your modem's documentation for the equivalent
settings.

Tasks Performed

Configure the modem for Administration Serial Port connectivity.
Connect the modem to the Administration Serial Port.
Program PARTNER in order to remove ringing lines from the modem's extension
(depending on connectivity method used).

Equipment Needed

In order to configure the modem:
PC with an available serial port and terminal emulation software such as
HyperTerminal.
DB-9 to DB-25 cable (AT modem cable)
To connect the modem to the PARTNER Administration Serial Port:
Standard RJ-45 cable
DB-25 to RJ45 adaptor (355A adaptor or equivalent)
DB-25 to DB-25 Null Modem
