Battery Storage and Disposal BATTERY PROLONGED STORAGE Batteries discharge over time. The rate of discharge changes according to the ambient temperature, the age and condition of the batteries. Completely charged batteries will not freeze in winter temperatures unless the temperature is less than -75°F ( - 60°C). For winter storage, the batteries must be clean, completely charged and disconnected from any electrical drain.
