1.1 Description
This kit (Figure 1) includes two 12 Volt DC, sealed lead-acid bat-
teries to replace the batteries in the POWERFlexx
Pac. There are also two strips of hook-and-loop fastening material
to replace the strips in the POWERPac case if needed.
The person replacing the batteries should have a working
knowledge of basic electrical connections. If you do not feel
comfortable making the connections, contact Ferno Customer
Relations, EMSAR or your Ferno distributor (page 13).

1.4 Hook-and-Loop fastener Notes
The hook-and-loop fasteners that secure the batteries in the
POWERPac are composed of two strips.
The hooked (rough textured) strips are affixed to the bottom of
the POWERPac case. They may need to be replaced with the
hooked strips provided in this kit.
The looped (fuzzy textured) strips are on the batteries, applied
at the factory.
1.5 Recycling the batteries
The batteries inside the POWERPac contain lead, which must
be disposed of properly through recycling.
Recycling in the United States of America is regulated by the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Contact your state
EPA for recycling information in your area.
WEEE DIRECTIvE (E.u.)
European Union directive 2002/96/EC Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment (WEEE) limits the disposal of electrical
and electronic equipment in landfills. Contact the government
in the country in which you reside for recycling information.

    Accessory Kit 082-2012 2.5 Install the batteries WARNING Improperly disconnecting or reconnecting wires can lead to electric-shock injury or damage to the PC board. Disconnect and reconnect wires only as instructed in this manual. Refer to Figure 10, page 7, for battery positioning and wire orientation inside POWERPac.

If you have the Integrated Charging System or Breakaway Charging System (ICS ® or BCS), also disconnect the charging cable from the charging port on top of the POWERPac.
