Pull up on the handbrake.

Insert a screwdriver through the seam in the leather.
There is a hole on the bottom of the handbrake under
the seam. Look at the carbon piece to see where it is
located. Press up firmly. Slide the handbrake off.
NOTE 1) On early cars, the handbrake is held in
by the metal clip on the top of the handbrake as
well as a metal clip inside the handbrake. Later
cars use only the top clip.
NOTE 2) If the screw driver does not go more
than 1/8 inch and feels like it hits something solid,
then you have the Generation 2 handbrake. There
is no internal clip. Slide the handbrake off.
NOTE 3) By using the screwdriver to press up
into the hole, the metal clip (highlighted in second
picture) is being disengaged from the handbrake
rod.
Remove the top clip from the OEM handbrake and

transfer it to the carbon fiber handbrake.

Slide the carbon fiber handbrake on. Make sure the
top clip stays in place.
