8. Set-Up And Operation Instructions
1. Secure cylinder in upright position.
2. Inspect the cylinder valve for grease, oil, debris, or damaged threads.
3. Confirm the regulator has the correct pressure rating and gas service
connection for the cylinder being used.
4. Inspect the regulator inlet connection for grease, oil, and/or damaged
parts.
5. Attach regulators to proper cylinders. Use a wrench to ensure tight con-
nections.

When using a flowmeter-style regulator, position the regulator vertically
to ensure accurate readings.
6. Turn regulator adjusting handle or screw counterclockwise to release
pressure on the adjusting spring. Close shut-off valve on flowmeter reg-
ulator.
NOTICE − Release pressure on the adjusting spring before opening the cyl-
inder valve or the diaphragm may be damaged and the regulator may not
operate.
7. Stand with the cylinder valve between you and the regulator. Slowly
open the cylinder valve 1/4 turn until the tank pressure stabilizes, then
fully open the valve to seat it in the open position. Check compressed
gas system for leaks with an approved leak detection solution or leak
detector.

Gas cylinders have double-seated valves. Open valve fully to prevent
gas from leaking around the valve stem during use.
8. Attach hose to regulator and secure with clamp.
9. Purge hose in a well ventilated area.
Turn regulator adjusting handle clockwise to allow 5 psig (34 kPa) to

pass through the hose.
Allow gas to flow about ten seconds to purge the hose.

Turn regulator adjusting handle counterclockwise to stop gas flow.

10. Attach required equipment to hose and use a wrench to tighten
connections.
11. Using adjustment handle, adjust regulator delivery pressure or flow rate
as required for your application.
