General
All controls required for the operation of the 7853A/
7B53AN, excep t the Variable Selector and the Dly'd Sweep
Gate Out connector (see Fig. 1·31. are located on the front
panel of the instrument. To make full use of the capabi lities
of this instrument, the operator should
be
familiar with the
function and use o f each control. A brief description o f the
front-panel controls and connectors is given here. More
detailed information is given under General Operating
Information. Fig . 1-4

1. Main Triggering Controls
LEVEL. Selects the amplitude point on the trigger signal
where sweep triggering occurs.

SLOPE . Two-position swi tch permits triggering o n the
positive-going or negat ive-going port ion of the main trig .
gering signal.
TR IG'D. Lighl indicates that the main sweep is triggered
and will produce a display.
MODE . Pushbutton switches select the operat ing mode
for the main triggering circu its.
COUPLING . Pushbutton switches select the method of
coupling the triggering signal to the main triggering circuits.
SOURCE . Pushbu tton switches select the source o f the
main triggering signal .
