Additional information Electronic preset counters
Type KCT1-...
with serial interface RS232
1 General
The devices are equipped with a serial interface
according to the RS232 standard. It can be used as well
for the external programming of the device as for the
remote reading of the counter value and the operating
parameters.
RS422 accepts up to ten devices (control system not
included) on one line.
Caution: The interface parameters set must match
those of the control system, otherwise errors might
appear during communication with the superior level
system.
2 Addressing the counter via the serial
interface
Communication via simple <ESC> sequences. There is
no need to send a device address for devices with a
RS232 interface. The parameter (A) appearing under
„Instruction" in the tables below must be omitted. The
instructions have to be closed with <CR><LF>.
The instruction check is only elementary. „Cross-
checking" is only performed partially. If an instruction is
sent in an operating mode in which it is invalid, the
device displays „S-Err". If an instruction with too many
parameters is sent to a device, only the parameters
sent first are processed and the characters sent in
addition are ignored.
Example:
Instruction to be sent:
<ESC>V1+123456<CR><LF>
Instruction sent:
<ESC>V1+12345678<CR><LF>
Consequence:
„78" will be ignored.
Instructions requiring no answer to the control device
are acknowledged by the counter with <CR><LF> as
long as there is no error. If an error occurs during
reception or if the instruction cannot be interpreted, the
counter answers with „F" and <CR><LF>.
Example:
Reading of the counter. All characters sent are ASCII
characters.
RS232: <ESC><0><CR><LF>
Subject to reasonable modifications due to technical advances.
