Heating- and Heat Pump Control Operating manual Luxtronik Controller part 2 Scope of delivery, Montage, Electrical connections Software update Commissioning / Switching on for the first time Addressed heat pump Program area “Cooling“ Program area “Service“ Appendix 83055600dUK – Translation of the original instruction manual (HMD 2)
Please read first Symbols This operating manual is part 2 of the 2-part operating manual for Information for users. the heating and heat pump controller. Ensure that you have part 1 of this operating manual. If part 1 is missing, request it from your supplier Information or instructions for qualified technicians and authorised service personnel.
Scope of delivery BASIC WIRING OF THE HEATING AND HEAT PUMP CONTROLLER ● Heating and heat pump regulator, consisting of motherboard (with terminals) and control unit (with status display, screen and “rotary pushbutton”) as an in- tegrated component of the HMD 2 hydraulic module ●...
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION OF SENSORS External sensor The external sensor (protection class IP 67) is a function-critical accessory and included in the scope of supply. NOTE If the external sensor is not installed or defective, the heat- ing and heat pump regulator automatically sets the exter- nal temperature to -5 °C.
Dimensional drawings External return flow sensor The return flow sensor (optional accessory) is functionally-rele- vant for hydraulic integration of an isolating tank (multifunction tank .). This has to be installed as follows: TRLext Separation or multi-functional storage tank Circulation pump in the separation storage tank (heat pump circuit) All dimensions in mm.
Switching on / Commissioning IMPORTANT The unit can be damaged if the display is confirmed with When switching on the controller voltage or after a restart of the , although the system is not properly filled. heating and heat pump controller (reset), a self-test is carried out to check whether the basic components of the heat pump system After confirming the security question, the startup guide starts.
Page 8
The startup guide leads you step-by-step through several selec- NOTE tion options used to set up your heat pump. Do not press the confirmation prompt on the screen until For example: the LINBus connection to heat pump 2 has been plugged into the control board and the LINBus connection to heat pump 1 has been unplugged from the control board.
After that, the following screen appears: You can also save the settings to an external USB stick. NOTE The heating phase until the compressor starts can take several hours when starting up for the first time. With dual air/water heat pumps the flow is monitored RESET STARTUP PARAMETERS while the pump is running.
Emergency mode The emergency mode provides heating operation and domestic hot water preparation as well as the frost protection function and the screed heating program even if, after switching on the con- troller voltage ● one or more basic system components were not detected during the self test, ●...

Program area “Cooling” If the cooling function is set, the symbol for the program area “Cooling” will appear in the navigation screen The “Cooling” function with automatic changeover between heating mode and cooling mode (depending on requirements) can be used with reversible LWD heat pumps and one mixing cir- cuit.
NOTE Activate the automatic mode only during the summer months or shut off the cooling during the heating period by means of a room thermostat. Otherwise, it is possible that, depending on the location of the outdoor sensor, the system will switch to cooling if the outdoor temperature exceeds the set temperature.
COOLING BASED ON SET TEMPERATURE OR Cooling depending on outdoor temperature DEPENDING ON OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE The cooling can be released based on the outdoor temperature or in accordance with a fixed temperature (= set temperature). Cooling based on set temperature With setting “set.
