Do not operate or work on this equipment unless this manual has been read and all instructions are understood. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact any Rice Lake Weighing Systems dealer for replacement manuals.
Hardware The CPU board (PN 106390) provides four load cell input channels, four configurable I/O channels, a selectable multi-protocol communications port (RS-232, 2- or 4-wire RS-485) and an additional port that accepts various Rice Lake Weighing Systems option cards (see Table 1-2 on page 3) for simultaneous communications with multiple hosts.
Immediately after unpacking, visually inspect the iQUBE² and the parts list to ensure all parts are included and undamaged. If any parts were damaged in shipment, notify Rice Lake Weighing Systems and the shipper immediately. Parts kit contents for 4- and 8-channel models of the iQUBE².

Customers wanting to use load cells with a higher bridge resistance than 700 can consult the Rice Lake Weighing Systems service department for additional options. When load cells are wired to iQUBE² connectors, J1-J4 are assigned by default as channels 1-4 (5-8, 9-12, 13-16 for secondary units).
iQUBE ² Digital Diagnostic Junction Box 2.9.2 Communications Option Cards Table 1-2 on page 3 lists communications option cards available for the iQUBE². Communications option cards are installed in the J9 connector of the primary CPU board for the iQUBE² system. All option cards use Port 3 except for wireless Ethernet, which uses Port 2.
If preacts are required, the host device should be used as the controller for its own I/O. Rice Lake Weighing Systems does not recommend the use of iQUBE² (local) I/O with host device controlled setpoints using the preact functions as variances in the reaction time in serially controlled I/O can dramatically affect the preact algorithm.
iQUBE ² Digital Diagnostic Junction Box 2.11 Primary/Secondary Wiring and Configuration An iQUBE² system can consist of up to four boards, with up to four load cell channels wired to each board. Standard enclosures can accommodate one or two boards; large enclosures allow up to three boards. For control of a multi-board system, one board is assigned as the primary unit and the J12 connector (M/S port) is used to provide communication between the primary and up to three secondary units.
