6.2 Tips on the USB socket

Beware!
Connect only an USB memory stick, MP3/WMA playback device or an iPod

Computers should not be connected!
Use only certified USB memory.

MP3/WMA playback devices or iPod
®
devices must be turned off before connecting to the USB
G
socket.
To prevent damage being caused, devices already connected should be removed from the USB
G
socket before starting the engine. Otherwise, the device connected may be damaged by the voltage
peak resulting from the starting.
Using the button
, swap to another audio source or turn the radio off before you remove a

device from the USB socket.
Note
This device is suitable for reading USB memory using the read/playback report 1.1 and 2.0. Ensure

that the read report of your USB memory is compatible with the read report of the device.
As a result of the continual development and the versatility of the USB memory, the function of this

device cannot be guaranteed with all USB memory types.

Connecting external devices to the AUX/IN socket

The device has an AUX/IN socket on the front side
A commercially available connecting cable with a 3.5 mm stereo jack is required for the connection.
To prevent overloading, reduce the playback volume of the external device to a low level before
connecting.
Insert the connecting line of the external device in the AUX/IN socket
By repeatedly pressing the
button, change to the audio source AUX-IN.
MODE
Start the playback on the external device.
The audio functions can be set during the playback, as described in section 3.4. Further operations (start,
stop, forwards/reverse, etc.) must only be performed via the operating panel of the external device.

Bluetooth
hands-free system
The integrated hands-free system of the radio is connected to the telephone via Bluetooth
Before using the hands-free system, the connection between the hands-free system and the mobile
phone must be established once via a Bluetooth
telephone is saved in the in the telephone list of the hands-free system and the hands-free system is
ready for use.
Only one mobile phone can be coupled to the hands-free system at a time. In doing so, the mobile
telephone as well as the Bluetooth
®
function on the mobile telephone must be switched on and all other
®
active Bluetooth
connections to other devices must have been separated. Simultaneous connection of
several mobile phones with the hands-free system is not possible.
®
Bluetooth
connecting data from up to 5 mobile telephones can be saved in the telephone list of the
hands-free system. After switching on the radio, a search is made for the mobile telephones saved. The
search function is indicated by the flashing symbol . Then the last mobile telephone connected is
searched for first always and then any other mobile telephones saved. The Bluetooth
established automatically to the first detected and listed mobile telephone.

When the ignition is turned on, the Bluetooth
detected and listed mobile telephone is also established when the radio is switched off. The radio
switches on automatically when an incoming call is registered and the call can be performed via the
hands-free system.

8.1 Establishing a Bluetooth
connection to the mobile telephone (coupling)
Keep the
button pressed until "PAIRING" appears in the display.
Then "KEY" is shown on the display with a 4 digit value. This 4 digit value is the password (PIN) required
®
for the Bluetooth
coupling.
Activate the Bluetooth
®
function on the mobile telephone and start searching for Bluetooth
in the surroundings. The mobile telephone presents a list of the devices found.
Select "VW RADIO" on the mobile telephone.
Confirm the Bluetooth
®
connection on the mobile telephone.
A password request appears on the mobile telephone.
Enter the 4 digit value that is shown on the display of the radio. If an incorrect password has been
entered, the coupling process is cancelled and you have to select the "VW RADIO" device again in the
list of devices found.
Depending on the mobile telephone, a question may be asked if this Bluetooth
be established in the future without entering the password again. Confirm this request with "Yes" to

enable the Bluetooth
connection to be established automatically when turning on the radio.
First "PAIRED" is shown on the display of the radio and then "CONNECTED". The existing Bluetooth
connection is confirmed by an acoustic signal
8.2 Separating a Bluetooth
®
connection to the mobile telephone
®
The Bluetooth
connection is separated automatically when the mobile telephone leaves the Bluetooth
reception range of the radio or the ignition is turned off.
®
The Bluetooth
can be manually separated in the following way:
Keep the
button pressed until "DISCONNECTED" appears in the display and the separation is
confirmed by an acoustic signal.
®
Using the
button, the Bluetooth
connection can be re-established.

8.3 Private mode

If a call is made and the speech should not be conducted via the vehicles own sound system, the call
can be accepted by pressing the button
two times after each other. The call will be conducted direct
on the mobile phone in private mode. The vehicle speakers and microphone of the hands-free system
are inactive.
The private mode can be quit using the button
system.

8.4 Save caller numbers

An incoming number can be saved on each button
For saving an incoming caller number, when accepting the call or during the conversation press the
desired button
