Breaker
Section ,. Introduction
The perfonnance and safety of all equipment may be by
the modification of supplied parts or their by non-identical
substitlues. All such desigIl changes must be submitted to
GE for engineering approval.
The user sholud methodically keep written maintenance
records as an aid in fuUlre seIVice planning and
equipment reliability improvement. Unusual experiences
should be promptly communicated to GE.
Section 2 ReceivinQ, HandlinQ & StoraQe
2-1 Receiving
All breakers are assembled and tested at the factory. They
are shipped assembled as complete units except for the
legs. Each breaker is carefully inspected and prepared for
shipment by worklnen experienced in the proper handling
of electrical equipment.
Immediately upon receipt of a
breaker, an examination should be made for any damage
sustained during shipment. If injury or rough handling is
evident, a damaged claim should be filed by the receiver at
once with the transportation company and the nearest
General Electric Sales Office should be notified.
2-2 Handling
Nonnal care in handling the breaker will result in a
trouble-free installation and long lasting life,-
2-3 Storage
When the unit can be set up immediately in its permanent
location, it is desirable to do so, even though it will not be
placed in service for some time. If stored outdoors, the
space heaters should be energized as soon as possible to
prevent corrosion due to moisture condensation inside the
housings.
The exposed portion of the bushings both outside and
inside the top cover sholud be checked for chips or cracks
especially near the clamps on the top frame.
