    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Introduction Validity This document is valid for the configuration of the devices DVE-4, DVE-8 and DVE-16. The descriptions in this document are based on the following versions: • Firmware version V1.1.0 Illustrations in this document may differ from the actual product.

    System Components Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inap- propriate internal components may cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and may result in the loss of warranty.
  • Page 6 DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Lightning Storms To avoid damage to the device by electrical surge during lightning storms, unplug the de- vice from the mains power supply (pull out the power plug). This is also recommended, when the device has been unused for a long period of time.

    General Notes Appropriate Use The DVE-4, DVE-8 and DVE-16 devices are analog video encoder for 4, 8 or 16 channels. It is able to receive and encode video data via their BNC entries and simultaneously stream them via Ethernet (unicast or multicast) to a receiver.
  • Page 8: Login And Language

    If you do not know the IP address of the device or not using the device for the first time, you can use the Dallmeier software “PService” in order to find out the IP address of the device. It is recommended to change the device’s registered factory IP address.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Language The user interface language can be specified in the login dialog.  Set the connnection to the device as described above. Fig. 4-2  Select from the dropdown box on the top right the required language.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Configuration After the required analog cameras were connected to the respective device, the settings can be configured.  Login to the web interface of the device as described above. The user interface is displayed depending on the setting.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 5.1.1 Device Name The name and number of the device can be changed.  Open the Basic Information dialog via Remote Configuration > Device Parameters > Device Information. Fig. 5-3  Enter in the Device Name field an new name for the device if required.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Time Server If the NTP option is activated, the current time can be obtained from a time server.  Enable the NTP option.  Enter the IP address of the time server in the Server Address field.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16  Select from the Channel No. drop down box the required camera.  Make the required settings.  Activate under Copy to Camera the required cameras for which these settings are to be transferred.  Click Save.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16  Enter the required texts in the text boxes.  Drag with the mouse the text fields in the camera image to the required position.  Activate under Copy to Camera the required cameras for which these settings are to be transferred.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Network Settings The device’s IP address can be changed in the TCP/IP dialog. It can also be configured to use DHCP (automatic assignment of network settings through a server).  Open the TCP/IP dialog via Remote Configuration > Network Settings > TCP/IP.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 Fig. 5-31  Select from the Exception Type drop down box the required exception.  Select Audible Warning as Normal Linkage.  Enable an Alarm Output if required.  Click Save. User Management The user management allows the management of user structures. In addition to the ad- ministrator with all permissions the user management allows to define different access and configuration rights for two different local user groups (user/operator).

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16  Click Modify. The Modify user dialog is displayed. Fig. 5-33  Enter a new Password.  Confirm the password.  Click OK. 5.6.2 New User A distinction is made between two local user groups: Operator and User. For these default permissions are configured.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16 5.7.1 Reboot Proceed as follows in order to reboot the device:  Click Reboot.  Confirm the subsequent info dialog. The device is rebooting. 5.7.2 Reset The default settings of the device can be restored to the network configuration or the device can also be completely reset to factory settings.

    DVE-4 / DVE-8 / DVE-16  Click Import. The configuration settings are restored and the device is restarted. 5.7.4 Export Configuration Settings and parameters can be exported to a configuration file. This can be re-imported as described above.  Click Export in the Export Config. File section.
