All Taarup machines are constructed and tested in association with farmers and contractors to ensure optimal function and reliability.
  • Page 11 Safety Any operator, service man and owner must be familiar with the warning instructions for the machine in this manual, before operations commence. Always work carefully with agricultural machinery. Read through and observe the safety instructions in this manual. Safety is your responsibility. Pay particular attention to this symbol.
  • Page 13 Drive safely. Beware of your responsibility, - carelessness or slovenliness can cause serious injury or death. When the machine is in operation: Pay attention to the fact that models 4024 - 4028 in hilly ground conditions can be unstable in raised position. This can be abated by fitting a balancing weight in the left hand side (optional equipment, - see page 43).
  • Page 15 Supplemental safety instructions 1 - 2 The machine is equipped with WARNING decalls. If the decalls are damaged they must be replaced, - order number for a complete set of decalls is 68.886.000. In the following the placing of the warning decalls are shown and details of the danger.   • Page 17 WARNING. Your body could be drawn into the P.T.O. shaft! Do not remove or open guards before the machine has stopped rotating. The tractor engine must be stopped, the ignition key removed and the hand brake applied. Warnings for basic machine WARNING.

Taarup's factory guarantee is annulled if the instructions of this manual are not adhered to.   • Page 43 Models 4024 - 4028 - 4028 C - 4032 C: Counterbalance weight G is used in hilly terrain to stabilise the machine. On models 4024 - 4028 only one weight is used on the left hand side. On models 4028 C and 4032 C, weights are used on both sides of the machine.
  • Page 45 Throwing wings (optional equipment) Normally the machine is used without throwing wings on the cutting discs. If striping problems occur in spring crops, caused by grass blocking on the discs, throwing wings A may be fitted in order to limit these problems. Note that the throwing wings are different for right-turning and left- turning cutting discs.

  • Page 49 Maintenance During all service operations involving knives and cutting discs the tractor engine must be stopped, the hand brake activated. If the machine has been raised, the safety devices S must be fitted to the lifting cylinders on the left and right hand sides. Re-tighten the bolts of the cutting discs and knife holders on your new machine before starting and again after about 1 hour of operation.

  • Page 69 Cutterbar Take care that worn bearings and gear wheels must be replaced in time. Otherwise a single damaged bearing might cause damage to the whole cutterbar. Use the correct back-stop when pressing new bearings into the gear wheel/bearing housing. Only press the bearing ring which is pressed into the gear wheel/bearing, - otherwise new bearings might be damaged when fitting.

Start by thoroughly cleaning the machine, - then grease the machine thoroughly so that any remaining water is pressed out of the bearings. Change the oil in cutterbar and gearbox and let the machine rotate for a few minutes.
