BATTERY INSTALLATION

WARNING
Battery – electrolyte is poisonous and dan-
gerous, causes severe burns, etc. Contains
sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes
or clothing.
Antidote: EXTERNAL – Flush with water.
INTERNAL – Drink large quantities of water
or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beat-
en egg or vegetable oil. Call a physician im-
mediately.
Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes and
get prompt medical attention.
Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep
sparks, flames, cigarettes, etc. away. Venti-
late when charging or using in enclosed
space. Always shield eyes when working
near batteries.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
CAUTION:
D Always keep the battery charged. Storing
a discharged battery can cause perma-
nent battery damage.
D To charge a sealed-type (MF) battery, a
special (constant–voltage) battery char-
ger is required. Using a conventional bat-
tery charger will damage the battery.
1. Remove the air cleaner.
2. Remove the battery 1 .
NOTE:
Make sure the main switch is turned off.
3. Add electrolyte to the battery.

Do not overfill!
4. Charge the battery at the rate of 1.8 A for 10
hours.
(See page 3-34, 3-35, 3-36)
NOTE:
Charge the battery to 1.320 specific gravity at
68_F (20_C) before installation.
5. Install the battery in the battery box.
