2. Remove hairpin cotters from bottom end of blade
control rod (PTO) (Fig. 9).
3. Secure blade control (PTO) rod through hole in
bellcrank with hairpin cotters (Fig. 9).

Installing the Shift Lever Plate
and Fuel Tank
Note: Hardware to install shift lever plate and fuel tank is
installed in the bottom of fuel tank.
1. Remove the bolts and nuts holding the shift lever plate
to the rear frame. Discard these nuts and bolts.
2. Slide the shift lever plate over the shift lever and under
the bottom of the rear frame (Fig. 10).

3. Align fuel tank with the top of the rear frame (Fig. 10).
4. Secure the right side shift lever plate and fuel tank to
the rear frame (Fig. 11) with 2 bolts (5/16 x 7/8 inch),
lock washers (5/16 inch) and washers (5/16 inch)
(Fig. 11).
5. Secure the left side shift lever plate and fuel tank to the
rear frame (Fig. 11) with 2 studs, washers (5/16 inch),
springs and locknuts (5/16 inch) (Fig. 11).

Note: Tighten left side of shift lever plate until it is
completely tight and then unscrew locknut one full turn.
This will allow the spring to work.

6. Slide the hose clamp onto the fuel line (Fig. 12).
7. Push the fuel line onto the fuel tank connection and
secure it with a hose clamp (Fig. 12).

Installing the Shift Lever

1. Remove the locknut (3/8 inch) and spring disk washer
from the stud on top of the transmission.
Note: Do not remove rubber seal washer and square hole
washer from transmission shaft.
2. Slide shift lever through control panel and align
mounting hole in lever with square on transmission
shaft. Secure lever to transmission with previously
removed spring washer and locknut (Fig. 13).
3. Replace the spring washer, dish down and locknut
(Fig. 13).
