Figure 4.1 depicts the Mark 22 Front Panel
with the various keys identified.
Two rocker switches labeled POWER and
LAMP are located on the left side of the
panel.
To turn ON the Mark 22, flip the
POWER switch up position. The display will
activate and momentarily display the follow-
ing message:

The number in the upper right corner re-
fers to the
version of software installed in
the Mark 22 unit. After five seconds the ini-
tial screen disappears, and the display be-
gins to cycle through the Display Mode. In
the Display Mode the Mark 22 cycles through
three screens: (1) corrected conductivity, raw
conductivity, and temperature; (2) solution-
compensated pH, Nernstian-corrected pH,
and temperature; and (3) date, military time,

and battery voltage. If one of the sensors is
not connected properly or the Mark 22 has
not been calibrated, the screen will display a
message indicating that the sensor is not con-
nected or is not calibrated.The number in the
upper right hand corner refers to the soft-
ware version inside the Mark 22. If a sensor
is connected and calibrated, the Mark 22 will
commence
For improved viewing angle and display
contrast, flip the rocker switch marked
LAMP to the UP position.
NOTE: The Mark 22 has an operating period of
approximately 12 hours without the lamp on.
If the lamp is activated, the Mark 22 will oper-
ate for approximately 8 hours before requiring
recharging. Care should be taken to avoid al-
lowing the internal batteries to fall below 5.9
Volts.
