Use¾" Pipeandan elbow(nol furnished) to carrythewaleror steamto
a nearby drain.Donotconnectdirectlyto a drainbul leave an air gap.No
shutollol anydescriptionshallbe placedbetween thesafdy rebelvalve
and theboiler,or on discharge pipesbetween suchsafety valvesand the
atmosphere. I nstallationol the safetyreliel valve shall conformto the
requirementsof the ANSI/ASME Boiler and PressureVesselCode,
SeclionIV. Themanulacturer i s not responsible for any waterdamage.
InstallDrainValvein lowerleftsideof boilerasmarked.
3. ConnectSupplyandReturn Linesto boiler.Theconneclions mayrequire
certainadditional f iltingsand parts, a s shown on diagram (Figs.5 and6).
4. This boileris equipped wilh 11/4" s upplyandreturnconnections o n both
theleftand rightsidesol the boiler.
In connectingthecoldwater supplytothewaler inlel valve,make surethat
a cleanwalersupplyis available. W henthewatersupplyis froma weftor
pump,a sandstrainershouldbe installed at thepump.
A hot walerboiler installedaboveradiation levelmustbe equipped wilh a
lowwater cutoffdevice. A periodicinspection is necessary, as is flushingof
floattypedevices, per manufacturers specificinstruction.
FOR USE WITH COOUNG
UNITS
A. Thisboiler,whenusedin connection with chilledwater systems, mustbe
installedso that thechilled wateris piped in parallelwith theheating
boiler.Appropriate valvesmustbeused1oprevenl t hechilledwaterfrom
enteringtheheatingboiler(Fig.6).
B. Whenthisboiler is connected to heatingcoils locatedin air handling
units wherethey may beexposed to refrigerated air circulation, t hepip-
ing syslemshallbe equipped with flow controlvalvesor otherautomaf-
ic means to prevenl g ravgy circulation of theboilerwalerduringthecool-
ing cycle.
LOW DESIGN WATER TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS
(BELOW 140 °)
If Iheboiler is to beusedin a heatingsysfem wheredesignwaterlempera-
luresbelow140 ° Faredesired(e.g.radianlfloorhealing), a 3-wayor 4-way
mixing valveor suitablealternative is requiredto preventlowfemperature
returnwater from enlering theboiler.FollowIhemixingvalvemanufacturer's
installation instructions.
TheminimumdesignreturnwaterLemperature Io theboilerto prevenl c on-
densation in theboilerandventingis 120 ° E Theminimumhigh limil set-
ting is 140 ° F.

For boilers for connection to gas vents or chimneys, vent Installations
shall be
in accordance with Part 7, Venting of Equipment, of the National Fue| Gas Code,
ANSI Z223.1-1atest revision and applicable provisions of the local building codes.
CHIMNEY SIZING
CHECK YOUR CHIMNEY
Thisis a very imporfantpart of your heatingsystem It must be clean,
theright size, properlyconstructed and in GOODCONDITION No boiler
can lunction properlywith a bad chimney.Fig. 7 gives typical chimney
sizes.Fig.8 givesyouan ideahowa boilermightbe vented to a chimney
Nofetha_ theheight(HT)is measured fromthevent pipeto the lop.
Chimneysizing, and all other aspectsof the vent installationmust be
in accordance with Part 7 of the National F uelGasCode,ANSI Z223.1
