Ingress protection class of an electrical device – designation of
the degree of protection against penetration by external factors.
The designation consists of the letters IP and two characters, the
first of which denotes protection against penetration by foreign
objects, and the second, protection against liquid ingress. X –
particle protection not determined; 4 – protection against water
splashing from any angle.
