Configuration → Communication/configuration using TwinCAT
Communication/configuration using TwinCAT
The following description applies to the EtherCAT program pack-
age TwinCAT 2.11 from Beckhoff. In program version 3 the set-
tings are also similar, therefore in the following the (still) more
popular version 2 is used. With other programs different terms
are sometimes used, but the basic method is similar. For the con-
figuration of the modules the master must support CoE; if this is
not the case, carry out the configuration using ICP100.
Basic procedure
•
In the first step you must give your EtherCAT master the pos-
sibility of detecting the modules (copy XML file). Then the
module configuration can be read out via CoE or a configura-
tion file loaded into the modules using FoE.
•
In the second step you must configure your EtherCAT master
for the interface used.
•
Then you can find the devices connected to this interface –
here the Q.bloxx-EC bus coupler and the modules connected
to it.
•
Now you can carry out the configuration of your system.
The configuration of a EtherCAT system is not discussed here,
but you will find examples for the configuration of the modules in
Section 6.2.4, page 110.
Configuration file for EtherCAT master
1. In the Windows Explorer enter "%ProgramData%" in the
address line (Fig. 6-16).
