I380 Encoder Replacement Procedure
Replacement time: 35 minutes
Required Items:
1. Phillips screw driver
2. Silicon adhesive (included)
How to Remove the Defective I380 Encoder
1. Remove the Fargo Printer from the ExpressCard chassis, refer to the Printer Replacement
Procedure (P/N: 99875404).
2. Disconnect the I380\ Fargo communications cable (jp10 connector on the Fargo Printer
main board), see figure 1.
3. Remove the 4 screws (2 on each side of the printer) that secure the I380 bracket with
encoder to the printer, see figures 2 and 3. In addition, remove the plastic cable retainer
from the printer, located below and between the two securing screws on the right side of
the printer unit, shown in figure 3.

  • Page 3 4. Place one hand underneath the I380 bracket while removing the last screw and allow the I380 assembly to drop away from the printer in a controlled manner. As you are doing so, pull the communications cable through the routing hole in the printer.
  • Page 4 Figure 4 5. Connect the I380\ Fargo communications cable to the jp10 connector on the printer main board, see figure 1. 6. Apply silicone to the jp10 cable\connector to prevent disconnection of the cable, see figure 1. 7. Replace the plastic cable holder, see figure 3.
