If you have not yet downloaded and installed the Arduino IDE to your computer you
can download it from the Arduino website here for your OS:
https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software
It is recommended to download the latest version.
In this setup guide we are using version 1.8.1 of the Arduino IDE.

Open up the Arduino IDE and navigate to
Tools > Board > Boards Manager
3.
Once the Arduino Board Manager window has opened, search for 'Arduino SAMD'
and install the SAMD boards package or update if you already have the package
installed. After installation has finished close the window.
