Satin Stitching
Satin st
itching
is a series of closely spaced
zig-zag
stitches that form a smooth satin-like
surface. It
is useful for
both utility and
decorative work. Always make a test sample
first so that Vou can adjust the stitch length and
thread tension properly.
50ft fabrics may require a backing to ensure
firm satin stitching. Crisp organdy and lawn are
suitable for this purpose.

Adjuning Thread Tension
Satin
stitching
requires
less tension
than
straight stitching or open zig-zag stitching.
Furtherrnore, the wider the stitch, the lighter
the tension on the thread must be.
Notice the stitching on your sample. If the
stitching appears to be toa tight, or the fabric is
puckering, lower the thread tension by turning
the dial to a lower number.
