6.21 Connecting Ground Cables

The N8500 must be grounded to prevent damage caused by static electricity or dangers caused
by unexpected creepage.
Prerequisites
The cabinet has been connected to the group pole in the equipment room.

Step 1 Connect a ground cable for an SUC.

1. Connect one end of the two network cables to each management network port of SUC's
controllers A and B.
2. Connect the other end of the two network cables to the switch that is connected to the
PC.
1. Connect one end of RJ-45 to the serial port of SUC's controller A or B.
2. Connect the other end (DB9 end or RJ-45 end) of the serial port to the PC's serial port.

NOTE
Ground cables for a 2 U SUD is connected exactly like the ground cables for a 4 U SUD. Connecting
ground cables for a 4 U SUD is used as an example in this section.
Use the Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screw on the SUC ground point.
Protrude the screw through the OT of the ground cable and secure the screw to the SUC
ground point.
