3. Check the air cleaner.
Check the air cleaner element to be sure it is clean and in good condition.
Open the rear maintenance cover. Unsnap the clips and remove the air
cleaner cover. Check the element.
Clean or replace the element if necessary (page 33).
CAUTION:
Never run the engine without the air cleaner element. Rapid engine
wear will result from contaminants, such as dust and dirt, being drawn
through the carburetor, into the engine.
