Using Your Breast Pump

1. To maximize your pumping
results, stimulate your let-down
reflex by:
• Relaxing and thinking about your
baby;
• Gently massaging your breasts,
starting nearest your ribs with a
stroking motion and working
down toward the nipple;
• Applying warm, moist compresses.
Continue until you can hand
express a few drops of milk. Now
you should be ready to use your
pump.
2. Place the breast flange to your
breast centered over the nipple.
3. Push the flange slightly towards
your breast and allow the breast to
completely fill the flange (this will
ensure a good seal).
4. Lean slightly forward and hold the
bottle upright, as shown, to ensure
the milk flows into the bottle.
5. Begin squeezing and releasing the
handle in a gentle, rhythmic motion.
You will notice that squeezing the
handle draws the milk; releasing the
handle allows the milk to collect in
the bottle.
Note: Supporting your breast with
your free hand and compressing
slightly while pumping can help your
milk flow easier.
IMPORTANT! Avoid hard, rapid
pumping, which can cause nipple
irritation or injury.
6. Continue pumping until milk is no
longer flowing or bottle is full.
7. Massage your other breast to
stimulate a let-down, as before, and
repeat the steps above. If desired,
massage the first breast again and
repeat on both sides to maximize
production.

Rinse all parts in cool water to remove milk residue. Hand wash with warm,
soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and air dry before assembly. You may also wash
your pump parts (after rinsing) on the top rack of your dishwasher. Use care
when handling the valve/membrane assembly during cleaning to avoid damage.
To avoid damage, DO NOT sanitize parts in the microwave.
Note: The Memory Flex fastener is a small part that may be easily lost in a
dishwasher. If cleaning is needed, hand wash this part.
1. After sealing your bottle with the sealing disc and cap ring, label the bottle
with the date and time the milk was expressed.
2. Use this chart as a guide for storing your breast milk for future use.
Note: In hot weather, chill milk immediately to prevent spoilage.
