2 OVERVIEW 2.1 Introduction The Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) uses a gateway and sensor nodes that use a direct sensor to gateway communication path for environmental monitoring. Each application is different in that the final installed system performance is dependent on a number of factors that are not within Vertiv's control.

5 HARDWARE INSTALLATION 5.1 Overview Read this manual thoroughly before installing or operating this unit. Only properly trained and qualified personnel should move, install, or service this equipment. The following subsections provide detailed instructions and information regarding connecting and configuring the gateway. See the following figures for illustrations of each of the components.
5.2 Equipment Installation and Recommendations NOTE: The technology used in the Vertiv™ WSN is a direct sensor to gateway communication path. Every application is different in that final installed system performance is dependent on a significant number of factors not within the control of Vertiv.
2. Apply simultaneous pressure up and towards the DIN rail to snap the back of the unit securely onto the rail. To remove the unit: Lift the gateway base station while also pulling the top away from the DIN rail. Vertiv | Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Installer/User Guide...
The Gateway operates from an input voltage of 10.0VDC to 30VDC. IMPORTANT! All agency approvals were conducted at an input voltage of 12.0VDC. Vertiv does not suggest operating the gateway with an input voltage other than 12.0VDC as the compliance is not guaranteed.
5.9 Resetting to Factory Defaults In the event that the IP addresses of the gateway ports are lost, the gateway can be restored to factory defaults by pressing and holding the reset button for a minimum of 5 seconds. The reset button can be accessed beside the antenna using a paper clip. Refer to Figure 5.9 below. Performing a reset on the gateway only resets the IP addresses on the ports and leaves all other sensor data and system configuration intact.

6 SENSOR The Vertiv™ WSN FLEX sensor is a LoRa®-enabled wireless temperature and humidity sensor providing an ultra low power, long-range solution for your wireless sensor needs. The Vertiv WSNFLEX sensor incorporates long-range LoRa® wireless radio technology which combines ultra long range spread spectrum communications with high interference immunity while minimizing power consumption.
Typical locations are 6" to 12 " from top of rack (depending upon the location of rack equipment) Standard rack face • Halfway (typically 36") Additional sensors can be used as needed for more granular control or monitoring. Vertiv | Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Installer/User Guide...
6.3 Sensor Mounting Considerations Sensors are shipped with a mounting bracket and accessories to support magnetic, zip tie and wall mount applications. The mounting bracket uses a hook assembly that aligns with the back of the sensor and the extended battery pack. The hook assembly can be used for either.

If the main button is not pressed and the three second time period expires, the red, blue, and green LED lights will strobe for up to 30 seconds while the sensor tries to join the Vertiv WSN. If the sensor is able to connect to the gateway, it will beep twice and the blue LED will turn on for two seconds to signify a successful connection.
To completely reset the device and perform a cold start: Remove batteries from the sensor. 2. Momentarily press the main button on the front of the sensor. • This immediately discharges the energy from the internal capacitors. Vertiv | Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Installer/User Guide...
3. Reinstall the batteries. • When batteries are fully reinstalled, the normal power up sequence occurs. 6.8.3 Low Battery Voltage The sensor has a built-in power supply that converts the battery voltage to that which is required by the internal circuitry. The sensor is designed to operate with a battery voltage range of approximately 2.0 V to 3.7 V.
For analog output mode, the analog output voltage of 0 to 3.0 VDC would be wired from pins 1 or 4 to the analog output circuit. The ground of the circuit would be wired to pins 2 or 3, respectively. Vertiv | Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Installer/User Guide...
• Type the IP address of the gateway into the address bar of the browser. NOTE: Vertiv™ recommends the use of the Chrome browser. The first page to load is the Devices page. See Figure 7.1 below. Figure 7.1 Devices Page The first time that a gateway is powered up, the Devices list will be empty.
If the port configuration is changed for the same port that the PC or laptop is connected to, the PC or laptop Ethernet settings will need to be updated to match the same subnet before access to this configuration page can be restored. Vertiv | Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Installer/User Guide...
7.2 Adding Sensors to the Network After the gateway system is configured, sensors can be added to the network using the WSNConnect feature. This feature automates all of the network join requirements so to avoid having to manually enter sensor data into the gateway before it will join the network.
Gateway settings can be viewed by navigating to the Gateway tab. See Figure 7.6 on the facing page. This tab provides the following information: • Software name of the gateway • MAC ID of the Picocell Radio inside of the gateway • Current firmware version Vertiv | Vertiv™ Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Installer/User Guide...
